Swiss Center Shanghai: a decade of record growth
The Swiss Center Shanghai (SCS, www.swisscenters.org), by far the largest cluster of Swiss enterprises in Asia, looks back at a decade of record growth since its founding in 2000, on the anniversary day of the 50 years diplomatic relations between Switzerland and China.

China fuels the Swiss export engine
With additional exports in the value of 1.7 billion Swiss francs to China (incl. Hong Kong) in the first six months of 2011 year-on-year, China remains the single largest contributor to Swiss export growth.

Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts joins as a new member
The Swiss Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts joins the Swiss Center Shanghai and enters the Chinese market. Shanghai hotel with more than 300 rooms to be opened in 2014.

January 25, 2011:  

Confidence of Swiss companies in China on a record high level
The confidence index of Swiss enterprises in China for the next five years reaches an all time high of 81%, reveals the recent SwissCham China Business Sentiment Survey 2011. Finding suitable talent and growing Chinese competition are the top concerns.

December 3, 2010:  

XIAO Zhen new General Manager - Bertrams Chemical Plants to set up a WFOE in China as new SCS member
XIAO Zhen, a Chinese national with extensive Switzerland experience, took office as the new General Manager for the Swiss Center Shanghai. SCS also welcomes a new member company: The Swiss Bertrams Chemical Plants Ltd. opens up a Wholly Foreign Owned Enterprise (WFOE) in Beijing to serve the growing Chinese market.

November 12, 2010:  

Swiss exports to China grow ten times faster than overall exports
Swiss September exports to China and Hong Kong exploded by 38% compared to the year before, while overall Swiss September exports gained only 3.8%. An official delegation of the Canton of Vaud including Mr Jean-Claude Mermoud, Vice-Governor and Minister of Economy, and Daniel Brélaz, Mayor of Lausanne, visited the Swiss Center Shanghai and took part in the Innovation Cooperation Day in Shanghai to develop high-tech and science cooperation
opportunities.

Swiss machinery exports: China is market No 2
In the first six months of 2010, China including Hong Kong overtook France and the United
States to become the second biggest importer of Swiss machinery after Germany. From
January to June, Swiss machinery companies exported goods in the value of 1.44 billion
Swiss francs to China and Hong Kong – an increase of 20%.

Booming Swiss watch and precision instruments exports to China
Swiss watch and precision companies exported goods in the value of 1.6 billion Swiss francs
to China and Hong Kong in the first four months of 2010, an increase by 40.6% year-onyear. In the same period, overall Swiss exports to China and Hong Kong went up by 21.4%, making the Middle Kingdom the fifth biggest buyer of Swiss goods world wide and leaving Switzerland with a 1.2 billion Swiss francs trade surplus.

Swiss foreign trade figures indicate China boom
Swiss January exports to China went up by 19.2% year on year – Exports are expected to grow throughout the Chinese year of the tiger – While worldwide Swiss exports declined sharply in the crisis year 2009, trade with China was stable.
